Your Budget - Not Surprises

We understand that budgeting for your trip is critical. We want everything to be fully transparent for you.

No surprises! Below is an outline of the core costs per trip aside from the trip-pass and pre-paid accommodations (e.g., entrance fees to group activities and national/provincial parks) along with details for things like food and optional activities.

Our trip prices are in CANADIAN dollars.  If you want an estimate of the trip in your currency, reach out and we can do the maths for you. As of June 2019 the rough conversion is:

  • UK / Pound Sterling: 1 CAD is 0.57 Pounds

  • Euro: 1 CAD is 0.65 EURO

  • Australian Dollars: 1 CAD is 1.07 AUD

For example a $1000 CAD is £570 pounds, €650 EURO or $1070 AUD.

We accept payment by major credit cards, Interac e-transfer and Transferwise (which reduces international currency conversion costs).

What's Included & What Isn't

Included in Trip Pass Prices:

  • An epic adventurous time

  • An awesome driver guide aka road warrior

  • Transportation throughout the trip

  • Day trips and lifts to activities, regions and national parks

  • Booking support for add-on activities

  • Breakfasts when provided at our accommodations

Prepayment Options & Requirements:

  • Accommodation – passengers are required to pre-pay for accommodations 30 days before departure - if there are special requests you might have to pay the provider on arrival for those locations.

  • Local Entrance Fees: Each passenger is required to pay a stipend to cover entrance fees to national parks, ferry fees and other attractions that we visit during day trips and along the route (from $40-$125 + HST per trip).

  • Add-on activities (e.g. Rafting, Via Ferrata, Whale Watching) can be prepaid when signing up before trip departure. For some, you can pay on arrival. Details will be shared when we send the activity sign-up form to you.

Not Included in Trip Pass:

  • Most Food – we stop by grocery stores along the way. Other times folks head out on the town. Group cooking is optional, and usually led by travellers.

  • Sleeping bags are required for 1-4 nights max on some trips. If you don't have one they will be offered for a rental before departure. Note: The Newfoundland extension may have additional camping evenings.

  • Inexpensive Groceries: ~$10-$15 CAD per day

  • Occasional Meals Out w/ Grocery Stores: ~$25 CAD per day

  • On the town: Beers are usually $5-$8 CAD and wine varies considerably.

  • Note: Costs vary by establishment and province. Drinking ages vary between 18 and 19 depending on the province.

GETTING TO CENTRAL / EASTERN CANADA

  • International flights vary, but good deals can be found. $250 CAD one-way from the UK.

  • Flights from Vancouver/Calgary can be as low as $200 CAD (one-way).

  • If you dates don't work perfectly, or you are somewhere from our main departure point, we occasionally have people join us along the way - for example Quebec City.

ACTIVITIES

  • Optional add-on activities: (e.g. rafting, via ferrata, kayaking rental, snowmobiling, canyoneering). CAD: $50-$125 per, majority are on the lower end. For the Big One trip to do a bunch of our favourites you should budget around $225 + hst. For more details, check the activities page.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Prepay fees are roughly in-line with the actual costs for our standard accommodations. We require that everyone pre-pays for standard accommodations to simplify things at check-in and managing our room blocks. However, if you are requesting privates, or other changes, it will be a little bit different (but all good!).
